Description
The Lavenham Railway walk offers a number of circular walks or, for the more energetic, a 5 mile walk to the village of Long Melford. Start the walk opposite the new village sign about 50 yards from the railway bridge on the Lavenham side. After half a mile or so at the first road junction you can turn right and then after 300 yards take the footpath on the right back to the Bury Road. Alternatively you can turn left and walk back along the road into Lavenham. For a longer walk (about 3 miles) continue along the old railway line after the first road junction until you come to the bridge. Climb the footpath or the steps and cross the bridge by the road. Just afterwards there is another footpath on the left which takes you back along the field edge by the old railway line. At the road junction either left and then via the footpath across the field to the Bury Road or back along the railway line or right along the road into Lavenham.
