Description
'Constable Country', so called for scenes depicted in the famous paintings, is generally the area on the Suffolk/Essex borders around East Bergholt and Dedham. East Bergholt was Constable's birthplace and is the site of Willy Lot's Cottage and Flatford Mill. Pleasant walks along the River Stour here; Bridge Cottage National Trust tea rooms and East Bergholt Place Gardens are popular with visitors in Summer. Dedham is also worth a visit with some good eating places, an arts and craft centre in a converted chapel and the Sir Alfred Munnings Museum
